Katie

Piano, Violin, Voice

Katie is a multi-award-winning Welsh composer/producer based in New York City. Her music can be identified by its unique weaving together of sounds and layered textures with a touch of Celtic flair as she draws on her Welsh roots. Katie engages in projects encompassing many forms of music, from the concert hall to multimedia environments to dance and film. 

Katie’s music has been performed at European and US venues, including National Sawdust, the Curtis Institute of Music, and BBC Hoddinott Hall. She also enjoys conducting.

Katie is a Teaching Fellow at the Juilliard School, where she coaches composition for media and music production. 

She is thrilled to be a part of the Voyager Team! 

Alex

Piano

Alex holds Bachelors in Composition and Entrepreneurship from Kansas State University and a Masters in Screen Scoring from NYU. He’s received many accolated for his composing and performance abilities, including the Presser Foundation Award, and the NYU Film Scoring Award. The incredible gratitude Alex has for the teachers in his life is what inspired him to begin teaching. He loves working with students who are passionate about learning and enjoys exploring different musical styles in his lessons. Discovering and cultivating each and every student’s musical passion is his main goal in teaching.

Naomi

Piano

Naomi is a Brooklyn-based pianist, educator, and composer. They hold a Master’s Degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Naomi has performed at major festivals such as the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Education Network Conference. In 2019 Naomi was selected to participate in the Washington Women in Jazz: Young Artist Showcase as well as the Women in Jazz Organization Mentorship Program. They are also the recipient of the 2020 Hal Leonard Collegiate Scholarship through the Jazz Education Network.

Along with performing and composing, Naomi is very passionate about music education. They are very excited to join the Voyager community and share their passion for music with all of their students!

Andrea

Piano, Voice

Andrea received her B.F.A. in musical theater from Syracuse University. She was last seen on Broadway as the understudy for the two young female leads in the play Indecent at the Cort Theatre. Andrea was also in the most recent revival of Cabaret at Studio 54, where she played Frenchie the Gorilla and understudied the role of Sally Bowles, played by Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, and Sienna Miller. Andrea was also a member of the original Broadway cast of Once as an understudy for Girl, Reza, and Ex-Girlfriend. She made her Broadway debut as Alexi Darling in Rent and had the honor of being a part of the closing cast.

Andrea began piano lessons at the age of 3 and violin at the age of 7.  Andrea was trained in music theory and passed all of the national syllabus exams in piano. She has been able to meld her love of music with theatre in shows like Once and Striking 12 where she played multiple instruments onstage.

Ben

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Ben began taking piano lessons at the age of 6. A few years later, he began taking guitar lessons from Motown studio musician and songwriter Charles Smith, at which point he decided to make a career in music his long-term goal. In 2013 he attended Berklee College of Music, where he received a BA in Contemporary Writing & Production. 

Ben has been a music teacher for over 10 years. He has taught students of a wide variety of ages, skill levels, stylistic preferences, and disciplines. His teaching style is based on tailoring the curriculum to the needs and current abilities of each individual student. Ben makes a concerted effort to inspire his students by teaching instrument fundamentals, technique, and music theory concepts through the use of material that stylistically resonates with each student’s personality and musical preferences.

Somin

Piano

Somin is from South Korea and holds a Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music.  Over the past few years, she has taught over 200 students as a private piano instructor in both New York and Seoul. Her students range from professionals to amateur players. Her primary focus is teaching students between the ages of 5 and 16, many of whom have achieved success in piano competitions. 

 

In addition to her private teaching, Somin works as an instrumental accompanist for the Precollege division of the Manhattan School of Music.  She has performed numerous solo concerts and chamber music recitals in Seoul, New York (including Carnegie Hall), and Salzburg (at the Mozarteum). Currently, she continues her studies at the Manhattan School of Music while also teaching a dedicated group of students.

Lily

Piano, Voice

Lily is a vocalist, pianist, and songwriter from Toronto. She recently graduated from Berklee College of Music, receiving a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting. Lily started playing piano at the age of 3 and completed all ten grades of the Royal Conservatory of Music classical piano curriculum by age 13. She was a silver and gold medal winner at several local piano competitions. Lily’s vocal training started as a member of the Canadian Children’s Opera Company at age 5. While attending a school for the arts in elementary and middle school she sang in multiple jazz and contemporary choirs. In high school, she focused on rock and pop vocal training and songwriting with singer-songwriter, Kat Lucas, who toured with P!nk and Justin Bieber.

 Lily is a passionate teacher, with extensive experience working with kids. Her teaching style is centered around sparking a love of music in her students. Lily has a gift for connecting with children and bringing out the best in them.

Emily

Piano, Violin, Viola

Emily is a classically trained violinist and pianist based in NYC.  She began her violin studies at the age of 3 followed by piano at age 7 . 

Emily holds her Bachelor of Music Degree in Violin Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Upon completing her degree, Emily received her Suzuki Teacher Training at the School for Strings.  Emily has always loved teaching young children and now enjoys being able to put her two passions, music and teaching together. As a teacher, Emily places a strong emphasis on ear training coupled with solid skills in reading and technique. She believes that learning to play an instrument is something any child can do and that playing an instrument is truly a gift that brings children joy, a sense of accomplishment, and confidence which transfers into many other areas of their lives as well.

Ally

Piano

Ally is a piano teacher, composer/lyricist, producer, and storyteller currently based in NYC—  although her southern roots hail from both Atlanta, GA, and Guatemala. As a teacher, Ally’s ethos is to provide a well-rounded music education in multiple genres while prioritizing a strong foundation in music reading, rhythm learning, and ear training. She is currently enrolled in the NYU Musical Theater Writing Graduate program as part of Cycle 34. She received her Bachelor in Music with the highest honors from Berklee College of Music. Ally has over 15 years of music experience with piano, voice, and composition and is grateful she now shares it with the upcoming generation of music appreciators. When not teaching or writing, you can find Ally wandering the aisles of Trader Joe’s or curled up with a fantasy novel. 

Max

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Percussion

Max is a musician and educator from Cleveland, Ohio. He earned a degree in Music Education from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. After graduation, Max spent a few years doing a plethora of different things as a freelance musician from traveling the world playing on cruise ships, touring with bands across the country, giving masterclasses, performing with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and teaching through his own private studio.

In 2024, Max graduated from the Frost School Of Music in Miami, Florida earning a Master’s degree in music performance. Max currently resides in New York, New York.

Alexandria

Piano, Voice, Flute, Ukulele

Alexandria is a vocalist, flutist, and composer who seeks to connect her gospel roots with Americana, classical, and jazz traditions.  

Alexandria has performed with Solange Knowles, Al Jarreau, Jason Moran, Shelly Berg, and Kirk Whalum. She has appeared at the Essence Festival, Grammy’s, and the Newport Jazz Festival.

Along with teaching private lessons, Alexandria is currently an assistant professor at the Berklee College of Music in the Ensemble Department. She looks forward to working with you!

June

Piano, Voice

June is an award-winning vocalist, arranger, and teacher from Santa Cruz, California who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Jazz vocal performance at the Manhattan School of Music. After four years of living in Miami, Florida, and working towards her degree at The Frost School of Music, June is now a full-time performer, student, and teacher in Manhattan. 

Growing up surrounded by music, June enjoyed a wide variety of performance experiences ranging from classical voice, classical piano, and french horn to jazz vocal ensembles, musical theater, and more, but it was in high school that she fell in love with the sounds of jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Betty Carter and chose to dedicate herself to this artistic pursuit.

Kelly

Piano, Voice, Guitar

Kelly is a singer/songwriter and multi-talented musician from Portland OR, now based in Brooklyn. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Studio Music and Jazz at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. While living in Miami, she taught private lessons, group lessons, bands, and theory classes with a focus on contemporary music, arranging, and songwriting.

Kelly loves bringing her knowledge and love of music to the next generation of  musicians. She’s thrilled to be a part of the Voyager team!

Jordan

Piano, Ukulele

Jordan is a pianist, composer, arranger, and educator born and raised in New York City. He is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies with a focus on film and video game composing.

Jordan began studying contemporary classical piano at age 13 and has since branched out into other genres including blues and jazz piano, which he also studied while at Berklee, and later picked up the ukulele. Inspired by the music in his favorite films and video games, Jordan is also an arranger and composer, making arrangements of the songs that once inspired him to pursue a music education.

Jordan also has experience in early childhood education, working with children as young as 5 months old. He is passionate about education and understands the importance of having a fun and engaging learning environment.

Amanda

Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele

Amanda is originally from Long Island, New York, and is a working composer, actress, and teacher in NYC. She holds a BFA in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory, and is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. Her music has been performed at Lincoln Center, Prospect Theater Company, The Duplex, Green Room 42, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Feinstein’s 54 Below and more.

Amanda has been teaching since college, serving as a Music Theory tutor for the Theater Department at The Boston Conservatory. Presently, she instructs people of all ages on piano, guitar, ukulele, and voice. She has extensive experience working with young children and children with special needs. She likes to approach music through a creative lens, often encouraging her students to compose original music to deepen their experience

Mara

Piano

Mara is a composer, music editor, pianist, orchestrator, producer, and piano teacher. You
can hear her music featured in Netflix’s Princess Power.

In 2019, she earned a B.M. from George Mason University in Classical Composition. In 2022, she earned a M.M. from SUNY
Purchase in Studio Composition where she was selected as a SUNY Thayer Fellowship Winner.

Mara is an active member of The Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Alliance for Women Film Composers, and Maestra. In 2023, she was selected to participate in the MUSE/Maestra Music Assistant Experience. That same year, she was asked to be a guest lecturer at SUNY Purchase, interned with New York Women in Film and Television, and interned for the Institute for Composer Diversity.

Mary

Piano, Voice

Mary’s passion for performing began at 5 years old, and she has continued to pursue acting, singing, and dancing ever since! She was accepted into Western Carolina University’s BFA musical theatre program and graduated with honors in 2018. Her performance career includes 15 regional New Jersey productions, 5 collegiate productions, and several post-college opportunities.  

Throughout all of her professional endeavors, Mary has continued to teach private music lessons to students of all ages and levels.  She is excited to join the Voyager team and to continue to grow as an artist while inspiring young performers. 

Kaya

Piano, Guitar, Voice

Kaya is a vocalist, songwriter, and classical guitarist.  She was raised between New York and California and began studying classical piano at eight. As a musician, she has performed
all over the world in venues such as Carnegie Hall to the Vatican in Rome. Kaya has been teaching for over 10 years. She teaches her own workshop available for group and individual lessons called “Waking Up The Natural Voice”

 

Kaya recently completed her Master’s in Contemporary Performance at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. She is excited to be back in New York to perform, record her upcoming album, and teach at Voyager! In addition to English, Kaya speaks and sings fluently in Spanish and Portuguese.

Shirley

Piano, Violin, Viola

Shirley is a classically trained pianist, Violist, and Violinist from Long Island, NY. She’s competed a number of competitions including the Manhattan International Music Competition, where she placed 2nd and performed at Carnegie Hall for the winners’ recital. Shirley was accepted into the Mannes Pre-college program for piano in 2019 and has since expanded her theory, repertoire, and technique range.

Shirley currently performs with the South Shore Symphony and Hunter Symphony orchestra. She is passionate about the intersection of different genres of music such as classical, jazz, and Broadway, and wants to spread the joy and confidence that music has given her to all of her students!.

Chloe

Piano, Violin, Viola

Hailing from the UK, Chloë is an award-winning violinist based in Queens, NY. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Most recently, she completed her master’s degree in Classical Performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music. 

Currently, Chloe performs at venues all across NYC with her Piano Trio – Alegría Ensemble. Chloe has devoted her time in New York to reaching new heights of musical excellence and discovering more about her musical voice in one of the most culturally and musically diverse cities in the world. She is thrilled to be a new member of the Voyager team, and share her love for music with Manhattan’s next generation of young musicians!
